Under the weather

I have had my back surgery and I am recovering pretty well. At least all the nerve pain has disappeared. The doctor's decompressed and fused my spine above the last fusion. Had a lot of blood loss and had to have blood, and then after the surgery they couldn't get me to wake up again. Guess, I just like to sleep! LOL Now just to get that incision healed.
I am slowly working on a new Christmas easel card, so watch for it.

I purchased an adobe CS3 program from Stella Cowles Smiths Grove KY. on ebay! I finally got around to downloading the program to my computer. After a few weeks, the program started acting up and wouldn't work anymore. I cannot remove the program from my computer. I contacted Adobe and they informed me that it is boot leg! Now I have to removed everything from my computer to get rid of this and then reload. Just shows you how dishonest people are! Trying to make a dishonest buck off anyone they can lure into their trap!
I am posting this to warn others not to buy programs off ebay! You might be someone's next prey!

God lives under the bed

This is such a sweet story, I had to post it here for you. Here is hoping that it and God will touch your hearts!

A simple story of faith and charm and joy and truth ... at the beginning of Lent. Read on ...

GOD LIVES UNDER THE BED

I envy Harry. My brother, Harry, thinks God lives under his bed. At least that's what I heard him say one night.

He was praying out loud in his dark bedroom, and I stopped to listen, 'Are you there, God?' he said. 'Where are you? Oh, I see. Under the bed...'

I giggled softly and tiptoed off to my own room. Harry's unique perspectives are often a source of amusement. But that night something else lingered long after the humor. I realized for the first time the very different world Harry lives in.

He was born 30 years ago, mentally disabled as a result of difficulties during labor. Apart from his size (he's 6-foot-2), there are few ways in which he is an adult.

He reasons and communicates with the capabilities of a 7-year-old, and he always will. He will probably always believe that God lives under his bed, that Santa Claus is the one who fills the space under our tree every Christmas and that airplanes stay up in the sky because angels carry them.

I remember wondering if Harry realizes he is different. Is he ever dissatisfied with his monotonous life?

Up before dawn each day, off to work at a workshop for the disabled, home to walk our cocker spaniel, return to eat his favorite macaroni-and-cheese for dinner, and later to bed.

The only variation in the entire scheme is laundry, when he hovers excitedly over the washing machine like a mother with her newborn child.

He does not seem dissatisfied.

He lopes out to the bus every morning at 7:05, eager for a day of simple work.

He wrings his hands excitedly while the water boils on the stove before dinner, and he stays up late twice a week to gather our dirty laundry for his next day's laundry chores.

And Saturdays - oh, the bliss of Saturdays! That's the day my Dad takes Harry to the airport to have a soft drink, watch the planes land, and speculate loudly on the destination of each passenger inside. 'That one's goin' to Chi-car-go! ' Harry shouts as he claps his hands.

His anticipation is so great he can hardly sleep on Friday nights.

And so goes his world of daily rituals and weekend field trips.

He doesn't know what it means to be discontent.

His life is simple.

He will never know the entanglements of wealth of power, and he does not care what brand of clothing he wears or what kind of food he eats. His needs have always been met, and he never worries that one day they may not be.

His hands are diligent. Harry is never so happy as when he is working. When he unloads the dishwasher or vacuums the carpet, his heart is completely in it.

He does not shrink from a job when it is begun, and he does not leave a job until it is finished. But when his tasks are done, Harry knows how to relax.

He is not obsessed with his work or the work of others. His heart is pure.

He still believes everyone tells the truth, promises must be kept, and when you are wrong, you apologize instead of argue.

Free from pride and unconcerned with appearances, Harry is not afraid to cry when he is hurt, angry or sorry. He is always transparent, always sincere. And he trusts God.

Not confined by intellectual reasoning, when he comes to Christ, he comes as a child. Harry seems to know God - to really be friends with Him in a way that is difficult for an 'educated' person to grasp. God seems like his closest companion.

In my moments of doubt and frustrations with my Christianity, I envy the security Harry has in his simple faith.

It is then that I am most willing to admit that he has some divine knowledge that rises above my mortal questions.

It is then I realize that perhaps he is not the one with the handicap. I am. My obligations, my fear, my pride, my circumstances - they all become disabilities when I do not trust them to God's care.

Who knows if Harry comprehends things I can never learn? After all, he has spent his whole life in that kind of innocence, praying after dark and soaking up the goodness and love of God.

And one day, when the mysteries of heaven are opened, and we are all amazed at how close God really is to our hearts, I'll realize that God heard the simple prayers of a boy who believed that God lived

under his bed.

Harry won't be surprised at all!

WOODEN BOWL

The Wooden Bowl
I guarantee you will remember the tale of the Wooden Bowl tomorrow, a week
from now, a month from now, a year from now.

A frail old man went to live with his son, daughter-in-law, and four-year
- old grandson.
The old man's hands trembled, his eyesight was blurred, and his step
faltered.

The family ate together at the table. But the elderly grandfather's shaky
hands and failing sight made eating difficult. Peas rolled off his spoon
onto the floor. When he grasped the glass, milk spilled on the tablecloth.

The son and daughter-in-law became irritated with the mess.'We must do
something about father,' said the son. 'I've had enough of his spilled
milk, noisy eating, and food on the floor.'

So the husband and wife set a small table in the corner. There,
Grandfather ate alone while the rest of the family enjoyed dinner. Since
Grandfather had broken a dish or two, his food was served in a wooden
bowl.

When the family glanced in Grandfather's direction, sometimes he had a
tear in his eye as he sat alone.
Still, the only words the couple had for him were sharp admonitions when
he dropped a fork or spilled food.

The four-year-old watched it all in silence.

One evening before supper, the father noticed his son playing with wood
scraps on the floor.
He asked the child sweetly, 'What are you making?' Just as sweetly, the
boy responded,
'Oh, I am making a little bowl for you and Mama to eat your food in when I
grow up.'
The four-year-old smiled and went back to work.

The words so struck the parents that they were speechless. Then tears
started to stream down their cheeks.. Though no word was spoken, both knew
what must be done.

That evening the husband took Grandfather's hand and gently led him back
to the family table.
For the remainder of his days he ate every meal with the family. And for
some reason, neither husband nor wife seemed to care any longer when a
fork was dropped, milk spilled, or the tablecloth soiled.

On a positive note, I've learned that, no matter what happens, how bad it
seems today, life does go on, and it will be better tomorrow.

I've learned that you can tell a lot about a person by the way he/she
handles four things:
a rainy day, the elderly, lost luggage, and tangled Christmas tree lights.

I've learned that, regardless of your relationship with your parents,
you'll miss them when they're gone from your life.

I've learned that making a 'living' is not the same thing as making a
'life...'

I've learned that life sometimes gives you a second chance.
I've learned that you shouldn't go through life with a catcher's mitt on
both hands. You need to be able to throw something back.

I've learned that if you pursue happiness, it will elude you. But, if you
focus on your family, your friends, the needs of others, your work and
doing the very best you can, happiness will find you.

I've learned that whenever I decide something with an open heart, I
usually make the right decision.

I've learned that even when I have pains, I don't have to be one.

I've learned that every day, you should reach out and touch someone..

People love that human touch -- holding hands, a warm hug, or just a
friendly pat on the back.

I've learned that I still have a lot to learn.

I've learned that you should pass this on to everyone you care about ...I
just did.

"Chilling" YOU HAVE TO READ THIS

SOMETHING OF HISTORIC PROPORTIONS IS HAPPENING By Tim Wood

I am a student of history. Professionally. I have written 15 books in six
languages, and have studied it all my life. I think there is something
monumentally large afoot, and I do not believe it is just a banking crisis,
or a mortgage crisis, or a credit crisis. Yes these exist, but they are
merely single facets on a very large gemstone that is only now coming into a
sharper focus.

Something of historic proportions is happening. I can sense it because I
know how it feels, smells, what it looks like, and how people react to it.
Yes, a perfect storm may be brewing, but there is something happening within
our country that has been evolving for about ten - fifteen years. The pace
has dramatically quickened in the past two.

We demand and then codify into law the requirement that our banks make
massive loans to people we know they can never pay back. Why?

We learn just days ago that the Federal Reserve, which has little or no real
oversight by anyone, has 'loaned' two trillion dollars (that is
$2,000,000,000,000) over the past few months, but will not tell us to whom
or why or disclose the terms. That is our money. Yours and mine. And that is
three times the 700B we all argued about so strenuously just this past
September. Who has this money? Why do they have it? Why are the terms
unavailable to us? Who asked for it? Who authorized it? I thought this was a
government of 'we the people,' who loaned our powers to our elected leaders.
Apparently not.

We have spent two or more decades intentionally de-industrializing our
economy. Why? We have intentionally dumbed down our schools, ignored our
history, and no longer teach our founding documents, why we are exceptional,
and why we are worth preserving. Students by and large cannot write, think
critically, read, or articulate. Parents are not revolting, teachers are not
picketing, and school boards continue to back mediocrity. Why?

We have now established the precedent of protesting every close election
(now violently in California over a proposition that is so controversial
that it wants marriage to remain between one man and one woman. Did you ever
think such a thing possible just a decade ago? We have corrupted our sacred
political process by allowing unelected judges to write laws that radically
change our way of life, and then mainstream Marxist groups like ACORN and
others to turn our voting system into a banana republic. To what purpose?

Now our mortgage industry is collapsing, housing prices are in free fall,
major industries are failing, our banking system is on the verge of
collapse, social security is nearly bankrupt, as is Medicare and our entire
government, our education system is worse than a joke (I teach college and
know precisely what I am talking about) the list is staggering in its
length, breadth, and depth. It is potentially 1929 x ten. And we are at war
with an enemy we cannot name for fear of offending people of the same
religion, who cannot wait to slit the throats of your children if they have
the opportunity to do so.

And now we have elected a man no one knows anything about, who has never run
so much as a Dairy Queen, let alone a town as big as Wasilla, Alaska. All of
his associations and alliances are with real radicals in their chosen fields
of employment, and everything we learn about him, drip by drip, is
unsettling if not downright scary. Surely you have heard him speak about his
idea to create and fund a mandatory civilian defense force stronger than our
military for use inside our borders. No? Oh, of course. The media would
never play that for you over and over and then demand he answer it. Sarah
Palin's pregnant daughter and $150,000 wardrobe is more important.

Mr. Obama's winning platform can be boiled down to one word: change.

Why?

I have never been so afraid for my country and for my children as I am now!

This man campaigned on bringing people together, something he has never,
ever done in his professional life. In my assessment, Obama will divide us
along philosophical lines, push us apart, and then try to realign the pieces
into a new and different power structure. Change is indeed coming. And when
it comes, you will never see the same nation again.

And that is only the beginning.

And I thought I would never be able to experience what the ordinary, moral
German felt in the mid-1930s. In those times, the savior was a former
smooth-talking rabble-rouser from the streets, about whom the average German
knew next to nothing. What they did know was that he was associated with
groups that shouted, shoved, and pushed around people with whom they
disagreed; he edged his way onto the political stage through great oratory
and promises. Economic times were tough, people were losing jobs, and he was
a great speaker. And he smiled and waved a lot. And people, even newspapers,
were afraid to speak out for fear that his 'brown shirts' would bully them
into submission. And then, he was duly elected to office, a full-throttled
economic crisis at hand [the Great Depression]. Slowly but surely he seized
the controls of government power, department-by-department,
person-by-person, bureaucracy-by-bureaucracy. The kids joined a Youth
Movement in his name, where they were taught what to think. How did he get
the people on his side? He did it promising jobs to the jobless, money to
the moneyless, and goodies for the military-industrial complex. He did it by
indoctrinating the children, advocating gun control, health care for all,
better wages, better jobs, and promising to re-instill pride once again in
the country, across Europe, and across the world.

He did it with a compliant media. Did you know that? And he did this all in
the name of justice and . . .. change. And the people surely got what they
voted for.

(Look it up if you think I am exaggerating.)

Read your history books. Many people objected in 1933 and were shouted down,
called names, laughed at, and made fun of. When Winston Churchill pointed
out the obvious in the late 1930s while seated in the House of Lords in
England (he was not yet Prime Minister), he was booed into his seat and
called a crazy troublemaker. He was right, though.

Don't forget that Germany was the most educated, cultured country in Europe
.. It was full of music, art, museums, hospitals, laboratories, and
universities. And in less than six years 'a shorter time span than just two
terms of the U.. S. presidency' it was rounding up its own citizens, killing
others, abrogating its laws, turning children against parents, and neighbors
against neighbors. All with the best of intentions, of course. The road to
Hell is paved with them.

As a practical thinker, one not overly prone to emotional decisions, I have
a choice: I can either believe what the objective pieces of evidence tell me
(even if they make me cringe with disgust); I can believe what history is
shouting to me from across the chasm of seven decades; or I can hope I am
wrong by closing my eyes, having another latte, and ignoring what is
transpiring around me.

Some people scoff at me, others laugh, or think I am foolish, naive, or
both. Perhaps I am. But I have never been afraid to look people in the eye
and tell them exactly what I believe, and why I believe it.

I pray I am wrong. I do not think I am.

Christmas is getting closer. Are you Ready? Let me help you get there with my new items.

A Santa gift box, grab and go up and mini candy wrappers. Graphics are hand drawn and painted by myself. This box features a sleigh and Rudolph, Santa peeking out the window, a Christmas tree in the other window, light candle in the upper dimentional window. There are snow people on both sides of the house too.

This is a decoupaged card with different sayings or just add your own before you print it out.

The graphics are mine, hand drawn and painted. The set comes with several backgrounds.

Life has been a trial

Sorry I have not posted in some time. I have not been feeling well. When we have fronts passing through, the pain gets worse and I don't function well at all.
Hopefully things will get better and I can get some things done and posted.
Keep watching because things will be coming.

Another new week

I have not posted for a few days due to health reasons.
My husband insisted he take me for a country ride this weekend.
We had a nice time, but it was much warmer than last time. It was nice while we were driving, because we had the top down, but when we stopped you could feel the 90 degree or more sun beating down on us.
I was totally exhausted when we returned home so I took a short nap.

I am going to work on some new graphics and hopefully get them in my store by the weekend.
My oldest son and his family are now living in Australia. They seem to like it and hopefully have found a home to move into. They are all missed on this end.
I envy them getting to live in such a beautiful place. We are hoping we can go and visit them. It will be a very long trip, but well worth it.

In Another Time

This new set came from a dream I had last week. This cute purse was in my dream as was the coin. There were others, but I didn't include them. Maybe I will get them done and give them as freebies. I told my husband about the dream and the purse. For some reason the purse stuck in my mind so I got up early that morning and drew it on my drawing paper. I was telling my daughter and showed her the picture. She didn't want any part of viewing it. For some reason, she is afraid of Angels and doesn't like to hear about my almost nightly dreams. I have decided I should start getting up and draw the things I am seeing in the dreams.

What a day!!!

My husband suggested going for a ride and perhaps a picnic yesterday. What a wonderful day we had. We left in his Soltice sports car with the top down and my little dog Pedro who is a chihuahua and goes everywhere I go if at all possible. Our destination was Brehnam Texas to see the blooming blue bonnets. We took the long country route, the sun was shinning and the skies were a brilliant clear blue. My husband suggested we use sun block. I told him I already had makeup on that had sunblock, but perhaps my ears and back of my neck.

Well needless to say we didn't see many bluebonnets in bloom, but the Indian paint brushes and buttercups and various other flowers were in bloom.

We didn't take the picnic lunch because he really doesn't have enough room in his so called trunk. The top lets down into it and leaves a tiny put of space.

One of the small towns was having a bicycle marathon and we got caught in the middle of it. My husband did get some nice comments on his car from people standing along the bicycle route. That put a smile on his face. LOL There must have been 500 riders and the police had everyone stopped so they could get through.

We stopped in Brehnam to eat and inquired about German food. Found a place that sold sausage on a stick, LOL, which does not qualify as German food to us. Stopped at a realtors place and inquired. He recommended a new place in downtown. We stopped there, let the windows down a bit so Pedro would not get to hot and went into the restaurant (which was not German food), placed our order and waited, and waited and waited. I told my husband I was going out to the car to check on Pedro and suggested he just get our order to go. Just before I went out a family stopped to take a picture of his car. Not sure if they were taking a picture of his car or the cute little dog looking out the window at them.

Pedro was hot so we got went for a walk and a potty break for him. My husband came out with the food and we were on our way to find a park to eat. We drove and drove and did not find a park. We decided we would stop in Chappel Hill and would surely find a place there to eat. We wanted to get some of their famous sausage anyway. We got to Chappel Hill and they had a festival going on with hundreds of bikers and ten times more cars trying to get into Chappel Hill so we turned around and headed home, hoping to find a park to eat our lunch.

Needless to say we drove all the way back home with no place to eat our lunch. We were both so sun burned, me on my face, front of my chest and arms (didn't think to put sun screen there) and my husbands face and arms. We laughed about it and decided we were going to go again in a couple of weeks and try it all over again. We probably drove 250 miles for this one day adventure, but we had a great time.

It's good to be home

I am back from the wedding we went to in Arizona. What a beautiful wedding!!! The bride chose a deep red and it was amazing.
We had such a wonderful time and it was really great seeing all my family. We attended the wedding rehearsal dinner the night before and met all the grooms family (he has 8 brother's and sisters and he is a twin). What a wonderful family.
The following evening was the wedding and reception.
I just love Arizona and lived in the Scottsdale area until my husband finished college and we moved to Texas. Needless to say, I hate this weather here and it was so hard to return. I can't wait until he retires so we can get out of this place. We will be leaving behind our kids, but hey, they can visit us, right!
It is back to painting and designing, which I love, so watch for new things to come.

I added a couple more background papers to my Lady bug graphic set. I also added a cute little Flower pot favor box I made with my graphics. The template was shared by Brenda Quintana. It is free with the graphic set. I made it for one of my little granddaughters that will be staying with us over the weekend. The template was made and shared by Brenda Quintana. Thank you Brenda.
